Hamster is built so your training data stays yours. The developer does not collect any data.
- No account, no servers. Hamster has no backend. Your workouts, plans, body measurements and progress photos are stored on your device.
- iCloud (optional). If iCloud sync is on, your data is stored in your private iCloud database, which only you can access. The developer cannot see it.
- Apple Health (optional). If you allow it, Hamster saves workouts, estimated calories and body measurements to Apple Health and reads your body weight. It also reads the heart rate, active calories and workouts recorded while you train (for example by your Apple Watch), to show heart rate, effort, recovery and calories for your workouts. During a workout on Apple Watch, Hamster reads your heart rate and active and resting calories to show them live, to end a rest once your heart rate is back down, and to save them with the workout. Health data never leaves Apple Health, your devices and your private iCloud, and is never used for advertising.
- Photos. Progress photos are only the pictures you pick yourself; Hamster has no access to the rest of your library. They are stored with your other data on your device and, if sync is on, in your private iCloud.
- Notifications. Reminders and the rest-timer alert are scheduled locally on your device.
- Widgets and Apple Watch. The widget and the Watch app receive a small summary of your data (for example this week's workouts) directly from your iPhone. It is not sent anywhere else.
- Exercise library. Exercise data and images are downloaded from RepDB (exercise-dataset.com). These requests contain no personal data.
- Sharing. When you share a workout as an image or as text, it goes only where you send it. Hamster doesn't send it anywhere itself.
- Purchases. Subscriptions and purchases are handled entirely by Apple. Hamster only learns whether you have Pro.
- No tracking, no ads, no analytics. Hamster does not track you or share data with third parties.
- Deleting your data. Deleting the app removes local data. iCloud data can be removed in Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage. Data saved to Apple Health can be removed in the Health app.
